Blazers 106 Warriors 111

Missed the Game tonight-- I have 2 midterms in the next 36 hours so it's been pretty hectic around here. I kept an eye on the boxscore and it looks like we got a solid win against a good opponent and Anthony Morrow led the way with 25 points. Biedrins missed his 16th straight double double I believe, and we finally won a 3rd quarter. NICE!

I could write up a post based on the boxscore but that's not the best way to analyze a game so I'll leave it to the comments of the actual viewers tonight. NocalFred, feel free to post some analysis or even your own recap and I'd be happy to move it to the front page and post the link on GSOM and Warriorsworld.net, otherwise I'll just leave the site be until the next game.

Quite bummed that Andrew has no wrap/blog on this great game tonight. But wish Andrew luck on his midterms tomorrow. Not very good at game wraps, but a few comments, if I may:
1. This ISO stuff with Maggette and Jax has to be reduced in a big way. Yes, Maggs kept the Ws in the game in the first half. Yes, Jax had 10 points in the 4th quarter when it counted most. But the offense is much more fluid when the ball gets passed around. Funny, I don't remember Mags being such a ball hog when he was with the Clips. Of course, all I remember is how he always had carreer scoring days against the Ws (which is what probably led to his being signed by the Ws in the first place).
2. I like what I see when CJ is in the game now. He is much improved over last season and is beginning to look more and more as a PG. His FT shooting is improving as well.
3. Speaking of FT shooting, I think the Ws went something like 20 for 20 in the 4th quarter (and missed only a couple for the game -- didn't see the exact stat). That, my friends, will win you lots of games, even when your shooters (e.g., Maggs and Jax) don't quite have it. The Ws also outshot the Blazers in FT attempts by a wide margin tonight, something we have seldom seen in the past. The main reason for this is that the Ws are getting the ball inside with much more efficiency. In previous seasons, with the run and gun and the 3-point attempts, the foul calls were few and far between.
4. What can you say about this Morrow kid? 25 more tonight and was something like 4 for 5 from 3-point range. I'd like to see him in the game with CJ at the point for a bit. Especially when Jax is taking a breather. Easily done by putting Wright and Randolph at PF and either Maggette or Azabuke at the SF.
5. The main negative tonight has to be the lack of crisp inbounds passes. In the latter part of the game, there were several botched passes (Azabuke, Morrow). Have to be more careful with that. But when you never miss a free throw and the other team is trying to catch up, it is being kind of nitpicky to complain about that...
6. Biedrins missed his umpteenth double-double by one rebound tonight, which is sad. But, being the team guy he is, I'm sure he'll say it was worth the win. He could have had 3 additional rebounds from what I saw, taken from him by Mags, CJ and Morrow.
7. Would have liked to see Randolph in the game tonight, especially when they took out Maggs for a breather. Not crazy about alternating Randolph and Wright depending on the opposition (going big with Wright and small with Randolph). They would both develop much faster with more minutes every game. Since the consensus is that Randolph will eventually play the 3, why not let him play some there and keep Maggette at the SG when Morrow takes a breather? Just a thought....

Lastly, I'm looking forward to attending the game on Friday and will not have a computer available until late Saturday or early Sunday. But will try and check in with some comments at that time. Wonder is Belinelli will still be with the team by then? Guess he cannot be traded until Harrington comes back from his non-injury..... Till then,

+1

IMO, Wright should definitely be playing more. It seemed as though he was beginning to develop at the beginning of the season, and I want to see more of that.

I agree with you on the Jackson/Maggettee issue. They should cut down on the ISOs because:

1)As Fitzgerald said last night, when you ISO, it's either you make it, or you give it away.

2)slows down the game, low percentage shots. I know Maggette was making his ISO shots last night, but IMO he's going to miss that shot more than he'll make it.

Other than that, the game was great. This Morrow kid is somethin'else. Just 1 thing Don; more Wright!
